Comparison of age of peak swimming speed in elite backstroke swimmers at national and international level The age of the best performance in swimmers has been studied for freestyle swimming. The fastest women were ~ 17 years old, the fastest men ~ 19 years.We now examined the age of the fastest backflow on the Langbahn for the tracks 50m, 100m and 200m for swimmers on national (Switzerland) and international level (finalists at the WM). We have examined the results for back floats directly with results for freestyle swimmers from the same period.For all distances and both disciplines, women revealed the best performance at ~ 18-23 years ago, while men swam the best times at ~ 21-26 years.
The age of the best swimming times was for swimmers at a national level ~ 1-2 years deeper than for swimmers at an international level.
