Differences in swimming speed on short course and long course for female and male breaststroke swimmers: A comparison of swimmers at national and international level We have examined the speed of breast skids on the Langbahn with the speed of breast skids on the short-run for swimmers at national level (Switzerland) and international level (finalists of the World Cup finals). The swimmers were over 50m (1.8-2.6%), 100m (2.2-3.6%) and 200m (2.6-4.2%) faster than on the Langbahn.Over the years, the floats between 1.2% and 5.2% on the short - as the Langbahn were faster, regardless of gender and distance.
The difference in performance between the sexes was larger on the Langbahn as on the short run.
