Relative improvements in endurance performance with age- Ironman Hawaii

Performance improvement of master triathletes at Ironman Hawaii From 1986-2010, the number of master triathlets (over 40 years old) has increased at the Ironman Hawaii, while the number of triathlets decreased younger than 40 years.Male triathlets over 44 years and female athletes over 40 years could significantly improve their performance over the course of these 25 years.

In the age groups 40-44 years to 55-59 years, the difference of performance between the sexes decreased significantly. Further details under https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22367579/

Hyponatriämie bei Mountainbikern

No case of exercise-associated hyponatremia in male ultra-endurance mountain bikers in the ‘swiss bike masters’. The load-associated hyponatremia is observed relatively often in endurance athletes. Today’s opinion is that rather slow athletes drink relatively too much and thereby comes to a dilution. On the ‘Swiss Bike Masters’ we found surprisingly that the fastest drivers drank the most and that still no mountain biker developed a hyponatremia. The results of the study can be found under https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22229504/

Hyponatriämie bei Mountainbikern

No case of exercise-associated hyponatremia in male ultra-endurance mountain bikers in the ‘Swiss Bike Masters’ The prevalence of the stress-associated hyponatremia has been studied for swimmers, runners, cyclists and triathlets, but not in mountain bikers.

Often mountain bikers lead liquids and big quantities and could easily supply large quantities of fluids. On the ‘Swiss Bike Masters’ we found in a collective of 37 long-distance mountain bikers not a single case of stress-associated hyponatemia, read below https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22229504/
